Wikipedia is a huge open source encyclopaedia. Its founder and one of its chief contributors got together in 2004 and created Wikia.

Because they use the same licence/license, material from Wikipedia may be freely copied to this and any other Wikia with the correct acknowledgement. The current acknowledgement is very simple. See template:enWP.
